Welcome. I’m Karen Kohlhaas and this is The Art and the Audition.

The mission of The Art and the Audition is to help actors, directors, and teachers strengthen and deepen craft, art, and showmanship—on stage, on camera, and in the audition room.

I’m a stage director and founding member of New York’s Atlantic Theater Company, and a senior teacher at the Atlantic Acting School. Over the years, I’ve developed a series of classes that I teach online and in person.

My teaching has also been greatly influenced by deep research into the life and plays of Tennessee Williams, focusing on his Mississippi Delta roots.

Enjoy browsing the site! You can also visit my sites MonologueAudition.com and TennWmsDelta.com.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.
